Day 57/365

Today was day one of Hal-Con and while I have LOTS of fantastic pictures of people in great costumes the thing that stands out the most about the day was some of the great food. It doesn't fit with the orange theme but I am so happy with the picture that I am willing to make the sacrifice.

Oven Roasted Plum Tomato Salad
Plum tomatoes, roasted garlic and diced onions all quick roasted
in the oven, then tossed with basil pesto and balsamic
vinaigrette, and served on tossed greens.

Day 56....365

Gil and I had a great night. We have tomorrow off work so tonight we had a pre-Friday celebration. Shopping and dinner. I snapped a few pictures but I hadn't found anything that fit in our Orangtober theme. Then after dinner Gil told me I had to take my camera into the bathroom. LOL. Sounds dirty I know but he is a wise man and he knows I have a passion for all things bronze and in the bathroom at Opa they had the most wonderful bronze sinks. Heaven! I wish I could have this in my house!!

Day 55... back into the vault

I confess. I didn't even pick up my camera today. Honest to god I was just too busy. So I dipped back into the archives to Christmas 2009, dinner at the Westin Nova Scotia. While everyone else was on their 4th trip to the buffet I was taking pictures of carved fruit... Check it out!

Check out THOSE melons!

Day 54 of 365 or 15% Done!

I have been avoiding the requisite Autumn Leaf Shot. But on my way into the house tonight I say the most beautiful leaf sitting all alone on my deck so I ran to grab the camera before it blew away.

Day 53 of 365

I forgot about taking a picture tonight, I had a big plan but then I got distracted until right before bed. I was looking around for something quick, orange (ish) and visually interesting and then I remembered that Gil recently hung a giant butterfly in our dining room. It is huge and beautiful.
His name is Sissyfus.... don't ask, Gil named him.

Day 51 .... Boo Yeah !

Aimee and I went out on an adventure today to find orange candy. I wish you could have seen me there at Freaks with the tongs picking out individual orange M&M's from the big mixes box. Fun times and the sugar high has been pretty amazing too!

"Do you only eat orange things??"

Day 50! WOW!!

It is getting harder and harder to find subjects for Orangtober. Tonight I scoured Aimee's house looking for something to take a picture of until I finally found this....

Day 49 of 365.... a cop out.

I did say when I started that periodically I would dip into the archives for a picture.
Today is one of those days.

This picture was taken on our second day in Las Vegas, August 2009.We were having dinner at Terrace Point Cafe in the Wynn which was totally paradise. I ordered a mimosa with my dinner and it was honest to god a little sip on heaven in a glass. I could really use one RIGHT NOW!!! (lol)

Day 46 of my 365

I had the idea for this picture a few days ago but I wanted until I had the right set up. Tonight when we got home from work the late afternoon sun was perfect so I grabbed as many books as I could carry and I went out to the deck. I am happy with the result.

45/365

This was the weekend when stuff had to start coming in from the yard. It is kind of sad to know that there will be no more red wine on the deck for another 7 months. I should spend more time in our yard. In the process of getting the yard winterized I found Crank hiding in the Hostas, I totally forgot he was there.

Love his orangtober coat!

day 43 .... wow 43!

When you have a theme that works you might as well see it to the end. I was at work today when I remembered that one of my favorite "Buddha's" is wearing orange and he happened to be on my desk at the time so I took some time while the phones were quiet to take some pictures. I like the way this one turned out but I wish I had taken some time to dust it off first.

His name is Happy Buddha. I love him!

I am loving all the autumn going on at the moment. I took this picture this morning while I was getting ready for work and I was so happy with it I didn't take any more. Also it stays with the Orangtober theme.

So full of turkey and trimming. Can't even form a proper sentence. Happy Thanksgiving.

Day 38 Thanksgiving ... take one.

Well today is a day that many people traditionally celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada. We are doing our big meal with Gil's parents tomorrow so I spent a large portion of the day doing pre-turkey prep which will save me a lot of work tomorrow. However we did get invited over to Casa Koivu for a big spread of turkey that we just had to sit back and enjoy which was delightful. I may have also had too much red wine to drink.

Pumpkin, apple and curry soup. To die for!

First day of the Thanksgiving long weekend. I meant to get so much done today but all told it was a pretty quiet day. But I did manage to get out for some breakfast with my sweetie and get some groceries for our big dinner on Monday. I generally love grocery shopping but the day or so before a major food holiday is always a rotten time to be in the produce aisle so I wanted to get in and out as fast as I could... so I made a list!

What exactly is she planning on feeding people?

36/365

I am tired tonight and I may have had a few glasses of red wine at dinner. We went to Cut tonight and had the BEST meal ever but the low light meant not very good pictures. But I took this one on the way out and I rather like it.

Day 35.... Are you tired of the flowers?

4 years ago today my best friend and I stood under a tree and got married. It was pretty much THE highlight of my whole life. The traditional gift for year four is fruit and/or flowers. My husband sincerely outdid himself with all the flowers he sent this past week. But then today he just blew me out of the water when he showed up at my office with this.....

Thank you so much my love it is so beautiful!

Day 34 ... the surprises just keep coming.

Honestly, I am not sure if my heart can take any more surprises. My amazing husband has really outdone himself.
Today this arrived for me at my office...

I reacted by laughing, crying, flailing and hugging random people... all at the same time. Now I am having the worlds most romantic sugar crash. Yeah that's love for ya!

33 of 365 ... My husband is awesome!

I don't know what I did to deserve such a good man but today I got ANOTHER beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to me at work. I really am so spoiled. This might be the best wedding anniversary so far.

Thank you so much baby!

Day 31... Stuff I love a conclusion.

Of course there a LOT more things that I love and I will get to them at a future date because I have really enjoyed this weeks project. I wanted to round off the week with the great cliche.... I love my family.
I mean they drive me CRAZY. Really and truly right around the bend. But that is what families do. I am still grateful for them and all their insanity. And I am extremely thankful for days like today when we sit around the table drinking tea, picking on each other, laughing with (at) each other and celebrating together. Today the occasion we were celebrating was my Grammy's 81st birthday. I love my WHOLE family of course but my Grammy is very special. She has lots of grandchildren and some great grandchildren. She's got nine kids and a husband who requires a lot of attention. But somehow in the midst of that she makes me feel special and cared for and a part of something. The marvel of that is this... she doesn't HAVE to so any of those things. I didn't start off life as her granddaughter. There is no bond of childhood memories that we share. We didn't meet each other until I was almost 14 years old. We never went to court and got a piece of paper to say that we are a family. She just took me and excepted me and loved me. They are my family, she is my Grammy and I love her dearly.

39 Again!

Day 30! Holy! 30!!

While I am talking about stuff I love I would be a liar if I didn't come clean about my crack cocaine. Mistress thy name is Starbucks! I know it is us cheesy and yuppy and expensive but I don't care. It is yummy and hot and caffeinated and some days it is the only thing that gets me through a crappy day.

Pumpkin Spice Latte. Heaven!

29 of 365.... Yup I still love stuff.

Today I love being a geek. I am not at all embarrassed or ashamed to say that my favorite creative outlet is role playing. A thing I came to later in my life then most of my friends but I have taken to like a duck to water. Tonight I spent some time with some of my fellow geeks talking geek talk about game mechanics and make believe and let me tell you ... I was happy. After a long and difficult day at work it was so relaxing to sit around and just let my brain go into geek-neutral. So here is the I <3 geeking inspired picture.

Do be a sweetie and ignore that the dice are the wrong ones for the game.
