Day 89 of 365

I tried to start my Christmas baking tonight with a recipe I got from my girlfriend Ang. She made them last week and I got to try them at book club. They were divine. The recipe seems very easy at first glance but somewhere along the way. The taste was great but the texture was terrible and when I tried to take them out of the pan they totally fell apart, very disappointing but I will try again. In the mean time here is my failure.

Day number 88 of 365

Night is coming pretty damn early these days. The sky was starting to darken when I left work tonight at 4:30. It is hard to deal with for me because I do have SAD. Some people don't believe in such a thing or they think that everyone gets a little sad in the winter but those who have it will tell you, as I am now, that it is very real and very painful illness I have great support from my husband and my friends but that doesn't mean I don't still feel it. One of the things that helps is to keep busy, keep structured and to look for beauty in the darkness. That is why I am sharing this picture that I took at sunset which this evening came at roughly 5:15pm.

Day 86 of 365

Winter has really started to creep up on us. I don't love the cold but it does provide lots of opportunity some beautiful pictures. I took this one this morning while we were sitting in the car waiting for the windshield for defrost.I thin it is kind of pretty.

Day 83!

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Okay so I know the snow is cold and wet and it makes driving a major pain in the ass, and shoveling, don't even get me started on shoveling. But you have to admit. It is awfully pretty!

(Ask me again in January what I think of the snow)

Day 81 of 365

80!!!

While we were walking through Mahone Bay today I saw the most amazing plant I have ever seen. I don't know what it is but it is so beautiful I need to find some for  my own yard. We called it a feather tree.

Can you name this plant?

Day 78 of 365

We are at White Point for the weekend. I spent my evening sitting by the fire writing. I feel at peace. Yeah

Moments like this... they make it all worth the effort.

76/365

I am not shirking my duty at all but I am telling you that I might be spread a bit thin between NaNoWriMo and project 365 so today I I decided I needed to write more then I needed to take pictures so at the last moment I grabbed my camera and took a picture of the first thing I saw. In this case it was my arch nemesis the alarm clock.
Anything this cute has to be evil!

Now normally I don't cotton to Sugar Shitty Pops for breakfast but this morning I was pouring a bowl for my nephew as a special treat and I was over come with a desire to eat a bowl myself. Needless to say I had the shakes all morning. LOL
They're magically delicious!

Day 73... TMI!

There are somethings in our private lives that we don't share with the outside world. Somethings that are private or weird and other people just don't meed to know about them. This is one of those stories.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
In my house some acts of personal hygiene are totally private and are done totally behind closed doors away from the other inhabitants of the house; like clipping your toe nails, man that is gross, to that in seclusion!! However peeing isn't one of them, unless we have company over, please don't be afraid to come over and visit, I promise I won't make you watch. But when Gil and I are home we have an open door policy and we have for the entire 8 years we have lived together. Tonight when we came home I had to go rather badly so I ran to the bathroom but we were in the middle of talking about something interesting so I left the door open. He said something to me that I couldn't hear so I leaned forward to hear him better but I had not noticed the door had bounced off the radiator and had closed a little so I also didn't see that my head with on an impact trajectory to the doorknob. Honest to god the first thing I thought was that I had lost my ear, then I thought maybe I had broken my jaw, then I realized I has screaming and freaking out and my poor husband was looking at me like I had been shot. The pain was friggin' immense. I saw some very pretty black spots dance before my eyes and then as my husband passed me the dogs water dish I chucked. I am okay now, the dizziness has pretty much passed and Hawk-eye  moved me to a comfortable seat in the living room with an ice pack on the goose egg behind my ear. Apparently there is a big never bundle back there so... fun times!

Ouch!

72/365

It was a beautiful day outside today so it was out into the yard for me to do some much needed pick up of dog business. Lucky for all of you I love you way too much to take pictures of that. But while I was out there I did see another one of our much loved Buddha's. He goes unnoticed way too often because he is always quietly sitting in the corner standing guard on our door.  He at one point in time was actually a solar light. How weird.

Day 68 of 365

Neither myself nor Gil are Buddhists although I have studied Buddhism in the course of my education and there are lots of very appealing things about it. One of the things I love the best are the beautiful images of the Buddha himself. We have several around the house which I hope to share with you over the next little while. Starting with Big Red. He is actually a wax candle I bought for Gil several years ago.

Feeling poopy tonight 'cause I had my flu shot tonight and I am too tired to do much so I thought I would share a picture of my new pretty red clock. Like it?

Everything old is new again.

Day 66!

I don't want you to get me wrong, I love kids, a lot. I think they are great and I try to spend as much time with my friends kids as possible but today I experienced something that made my ovaries want to pack up and move out, a birthday at McDonald's Playland. It wasn't the fault of the children but who ever designed these places was sadistic and hated parents.  They are all glass and metal and the noise just bounces around them and then slam into your head like loud shards of glass. Fortunately for me there were also some very cute babies there so I got to take some nice pictures. Including this one.

Day 65 of 365... only 300 more to go!

Okay well I am still writing about my childhood. Today I wrote about one of the best Christmas gifts I ever received. On November 9th 1984 my aunt asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her that I wanted a bald headed baby boy (cabbage patch kid of course). The next day my mom died. But 6 weeks later there he was under the tree. Through all the mess and chaos, having lost her only sister she remembered my wish.

26 years later. Thank you my favorite Aunt!

64/365

I had my picture for today all planned but I got home to discover that Mary had kidnapped my gnomes. That or I left them in her living room by accident but kidnapping sounds much more dramatic and in the spirit of NaNoWriMo.  Speaking of which.... as you may or may not know my novel is not so loosely based on my own incredibly messed up childhood and how it made me the person I am because of this I have been spending a lot of time looking at pictures and artifacts around the house that make me think of my experience growing up. Hence my subject for today's photo (because my gnomes are missing. Mary I am on to you!)

I have had bunny literally as long as I can remember. I think it started out as one of those things that the child is never meant to touch but at some point in my very early childhood I somehow convinced my mother it should live in my bedroom. I was really young because I remember very clearly being in the bedroom on Rankin Drive (grade primary) when my mother walked in and found me applying a coat of clear nail polish on him (and every thing else I owned. word to the wise a chalk board with nail polish on it is no longer any fun!) Anyway after that there was no sense in hiding it away so he has been with me ever since and as you can tell he has had some trails over the years but that is why he is one of my most cherished possessions.

Day 63

This morning Mango told me that she wanted to be the subject of my picture today. She begged she pleaded. How could I say no?

I mean just look at furry face and try and say no.

62/365

Mmmmm Cha Baa Thai. Really what more can I say?  I knew that sweetie and I would be heading there today because I was delivering them paper so I made SURE I had my camera with me. If you work in Dartmouth I really recommended then for lunch if you have a short break like I do. The service is AWESOME, fast and the prices are super reasonable and the food.... honestly it is out of this world.

Day 60!!

Today I started the second biggest project I have ever undertaken, right after this blog. NaNoWriMo might be actually the craziest thing I have ever done. If hope that I can keep up both projects with equal vigor.
